On debut night, we honor the King

The Football Race Light – Pelé Edition is organized by Effect Sport, with Light as master sponsor, and developed in partnership with Pelé Brand, which looks after and preserves the legacy of King Pelé.

The night race celebrates the King of Football on the stage where he achieved one of the most remarkable moments in sports history: Pelé’s thousandth goal, on 19 November 1969.

Since then, 19 November has been King Pelé Day. And it is in that same week, on the same stage, that Maracanã opens its doors again on a November night — now for those who run. From experienced runners to the little Reizinhos, who will step onto the pitch where the King made history, every stride is a tribute to the one who turned football into a universal language.
